I don't really like having rules at my boards, but sometimes they just have to be set out, because of certain situations, etc...
Basically the main rule here is to participate and have fun in the different sections of the board.
I recently removed the "Spam/Games" section because it was the only section being posted in. Some might think that's an irrational thing to do, but hear me out:
This board wasn't designed for "Spam & Games", it was designed to harbour my various interests, which you can see takes up the bulk of the board. Now I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who likes these things, so if you've signed up here, I gather that you are also interested in some of the topics here. Well if that's the case, then go and post stuff there! It's not hard
The Spam/Games section has only gone temporarily, it will be brought back once I am sure that the other members are actually going to post in other places and not just there.
I have also installed the 'disclaimer' that when new members sign up, they post as soon as they possibly can, to indicate that they are going to regularly participate in board conversations. If you don't post within a month, your account will be deleted, as I will just assume that you have no interest in actually posting here (in which case, why bother signing up at all?)
I am highly aware that people get busy and are unable to get online, etc... and that's totally fine, I understand, as I am often in the same boat. But a little bit of a "hey there" every now and again wouldn't hurt.
If you're planning on going away for a long time, let me know, as it is more courteous.
Sorry to seem like a bitch, but if you understood how frustrating these things can be, I'm sure you'd feel the same way...
Also, I just want to add: Respect. Ie. respect me, the Mods, and each other.
We want this place to be friendly, after all, right? That means: No personal attacks against other members on the board. I don't care what the issue might be, I don't want to read about it all over the place. Either take it to PMs or Email (preferably the latter).
That's basically it, really. I don't think I'll need to enforce any of this, at least I hope not, but if so, be aware I'm not always "happy and quirky", particularly if my patience is tried...
