I have many... but series are more prominent, like the Harry Potter books, the Discworld books and the Chronicles of Narnia. I also like the novel version of The 7th Guest, which I read before Harry Potter 6 There are heaps more, like Roald Dahl, Emily Rodda, etc... One I read in Yr 12 English was "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil", by John Berendt. That was a really good story (based on a true one as well), and there was a movie version of it made with John Cusack and Kevin Spacey. So what books do other people enjoy? ;D

Oo a new section ;D *happy dance* The Harry Potter books are some of my faves, but I'm also a huge fan Stephen King and the LOTR trilogy. One of my favourite books is Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub, sequel to the Talisman, it has to be one of my most-read books! The Green Mile, IT, and The Talisman are also some of my favourites. I'm not a huge fan of horror in general, but Stephen King rocks my socks ;D I also like Bernard Cornwell's Excalibur series, and The Wishing Game by Patrick Redmond

"We all float down here..." Clowns are creepy I don't know if the movie had anything to do with that! I haven't actually seen it for a while, but in my opinion it was fairly average. It's a long book though and probably too much to jam into the film. Heaps of good bits were cut out and if they hadn't, it could have been much scarier. But then it would probably have to be R rated. lol. The actors were boring.... the whole movie was, which sucks because the characters were what made the book so good! aww well, I've got my fingers crossed for a remake one day! ;D

LOL! I won't be seeing it if that's the case Perhaps one day I might read the book... although the movie gave me a complex, despite it's dodginess

lol, well freaky clowns aren't really my thing... but I loved it anyway, who'd have thought? Gawd, if anything should be made into a movie, it's Black House Stupid movie execs. Alright, my rant is over lol

LOL I think The 7th Guest could make a cool movie - it's really quite creepy. It was actually a computer game (adventure/puzzle solving) originally, but the guys who created the script wrote a novelisation of it, and I bought it so I could find out what happens in the end (I never managed to complete the game, LOL!)

I love biographies and autobiographies because I am fascinated with how people live their lives, and how they become the people they are/were. I love Stephen Fry's novels, especially Making History and The Liar, and his autobiography is absolutely wonderful. Very self-deprecating. Have devoured all the Harry Potters, which surprised me because it's not a genre I thought I'd like. I also love E.M Forster's Maurice, and Pat Barker's The Regeneration Trilogy, and Poppy Z Brite's novels. Anne Rice used to be my most fave of writers, but her writing for the last half of her career has left me cold - it's just become too rambling and well, dull and disappointing. There's many other authors I enjoy, but I'll stop now!

As you probably all know, I have a little obsession with the undead, so it's probably not at all surprising that my favourite book is Dracula! Read it when I was 15, and that's what started my own fascination with Vampires. I'd easily say that at least nine out of every ten books I read are about Vampires...although, honestly, most of them are crap! Closly following Dracula though, is Day of the Triffids, and War of the Worlds. They will always be in my top ten. I also was a big fan of Anne Rice (back to the Vampires! ), and I totally agree with Tweed - she has lost the plot! I read up to Tale of the Bodythief and gave up after that. Poppy Z. Brite quickly took her place on my bookshelf (although I seemed to have lost my copy of Lost Souls ). There are others...just can't think of them right now

YES!!! Tale of the Body Thief was the last of the good vampire chronicles books! I tried the one about Armand, but never finished it! And I love Armand!!
I wonder if it's because she demanded not to be edited, and became too self-indulgent?
Have you read any of her son's books?
I adore Dracula - it's a wonderful book. I also love omnibuses of short horror stories, esp. the older tales.
I haven't read any Poppy (not for lack of wanting to!) since Exquisite Corpse, is her recent stuff as good?

No, not read Anne's son...what kind of stuff does he write? Honestly, I haven't read much of Poppy's new stuff either, mainly because I don't think any of it has been released in Australia. Have you read 'Self Made man?' It's another collection of short stories, kind of like Swamp Foetus. I'm pretty sure my sister may have read some of her newer stuff though - you'd like her...she's a big Slash fan too - it's supposedly less horror orientated and more...um...man-on-man orientated I love short stories too...I have a million anthologies! I've just started reading a new one called 'The Vampire Sextette'...how could I resist when it has the words 'Vampire' and 'Sex' in the title!

No, not read Anne's son...what kind of stuff does he write? I haven't read him either, but he writes thrillers with homoerotic content. I will have to check it out!! ;D I'm on one of my not reading very quickly jags at the moment, I hate that. I've just started Damaged Goods by my idol, Russell T Davies - it's a Dr Who novel, an adult one... Way hey! ;D I picked one up at a trash n treasure called 'I Shudder At Your Touch' - erotic horror tales. I've read the Stephen King one, and it was rather good, but hardly erotic.
