Goodies... Goody Goody Yum Yum.... One of my all time favourite childhood shows. I loved it, and still do. And yay, coz DVDs are being released ;D And UKTV Australia is going to broadcast it again Tim Brooke-Taylor was my favourite, but Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie were also cool Saturday Night Grease is probably my favourite episode... although that one with all the puppets was cool too www.goodiesruleok.com/

GOODIES RULE OK! or rather, GOODIES RULE UK! Yes, the 'super chaps three' are probebly the greatest example of youth orientated comedy. With a series that spanned over 10 years taking on every fad, event, disaster and behaviour, this show is one of the best comedies to come out of the BBC. Thank god the show is being (slowly and painfully) released on DVD, however, not in the correct running order! As said, they are coming back to UKTV after an absence of about 4 years, so Australian payTV viewers can again see all the episodes uncut.
My fav episode probebly is "It Might as Well be String", but there are other too like "Charity Bounce" that still have me in stitches all these years on. I used to watch it between Inspector Gadget and Doctor Who on the ABC when I was very young, I'm glad the fan base isn't dead. Trivia: did you know a man died laughing while watching the episode "Kung Fu Kapers"
Goody Goody Yum Yum!

Yee I got the 2nd DVD that's been released There's a rather... unpolitically correct episode in there, by the name of South Africa... however it's really funny if you know it's just good for a laugh, rather than serious "Howdeh Doodeh!" It's really cool here at the moment too, the ABC shop has T-shirts, hats, pins, keyrings, etc... available, hehe... I'll have to get a hat, because the t-shirts are all too huge for me Which sucks... I'd love a fitted tee with "The Goodies" written on it in that funky font A DVD is actually available in the US, believe it or not... but it's not that great... you'd be much better off if you had a multi-region player and TV that allowed PAL play back as well as NTSC so you could get the UK/AU versions, because they're so much better... Goodies DVD infoBut I guess this is just a taste of what the show was like...

Fantastic that the Goodies have had a revival. Why didn't they do it when the first DVD came out? I suppose what with the tour and UKTV (finally) repeating the series, it was probably more of a better time. However, there are a few things that Goodies fans should know about the DVD release. The R4 DVD release has an episode in Black and White (no, not the South Africa one ) which is “Wicked Waltzing/Come Dancing”. Originally it's colour VT was junked, but a backup B&W recording was discovered in Australia. Somewhere along the way between the finding and the DVD release a colour piece was found and has been restored on the UK releases. We, here in Aust however have to make do with the B&W one. Also, the UK release also has a booklet included in the set. The inclusion of the B&W episode was due to the fact that Aust was desperate to get the DVD released in time for the tour, it had to do a rush job and order it's own mastertapes from the BBC before newly restored material was retained for use in the archives. Thus, the colour-restored episode was not available for use on the R4 discs as it wasn't officially finished with yet. Count yourselves lucky though, "South Africa" is only available to be viewed on these disc releases as it has been marked with red tape in the BBC archives to never be shown again on TV. So, what do we go for? Well, the UK release is cheaper, has all the trimmings and a special case, so go with it. But, it is region 2, whereas the first set was region 0. I know I'll be getting my DVD from the UK. Only 1 episode of the Goodies was destroyed and 2 had the colour tapes wiped. The junked episode was an early episode of “Kitten Kong”, while “Wicked Waltzing/Come Dancing” and “Caught in the Act” remain as B&W prints, however, due to a discovery (?) a colour version of Wicked Waltzing is now available. It was not uncommon to find a BBC programme from the 70s had missing pieces in it, many great programmes like Doctor Who and Dad's Army had the same probs, only they suffered more.

Whee! I've finally watched all the episodes on the 2nd DVD and they were all great, however my favourites would have to be Movies and The End... Scatty Safari remains my fave episode though (must be an Aussie thing) ;D I think Bill is my favourite Goodie... "Howdeh Doodeh!" lol ;D

I just watched some goodies episodes on the '8 delicious episodes' DVD (why I LOVE!!) and i still can't believe how absolutely FUNNY Saturday Night Grease is. It is my most favourite episode of theirs!!! I'm a grahame girl btw, and seeing him dressed as olivia is definately a highlight! LOL but seriously, the Goodies were so wonderful, and another great memory of my childhood! I also loved Kung Fu Kapers with the Ecky Thump training course. awesome!!!

Yes, Graeme as Olivia is definitely disturbing, I love how he even has an Australian accent for her. My two fave eps are 'Gunfight At the OK Tearooms' and 'Kung Fu Kapers', but god, every episode is a winner. It's hard to pic which one is my fave, I supposed if pressed, I'd nominate Timbo, for being such a steaming great girl all the time (which I find very funny). The Goodie I can most relate to is Bill, for being a little hippie lefty. Graeme brings the funny when he's being Evil!Graeme - being the villain against the other two. I agree with the guys themselves when they say that the best Goodies villains are when they are pitting one against the other two.

That he reminds me of my dad? I think it's scary Ooh Bill's in an episode of 'Fun At The Funeral Parlour' Tis very funny, lots of Goodies and Bananaman references, LOL! What's another episode I like... Oh, that Earthanasia one (is that the right title?) When the Earth has to be destroyed on Christmas day or something, LOL! And Tim's worried about the Muppets Tim: Ooh I do hope the Muppets don't suffer... Graeme: *laughs* They're not real, you know... etc... It leads into a very funny moment of Tim going nuts

I just saw a promo on UKTV for a show about celebrity family trees and one of them is going to feature Sailor's dad Bill Oddie! Looks quite good.
