LOL unexpected But anyway. I do have a few friends from the US that I know don't fit in with the current, well, profile, I guess you could call it? That people seem to dislike? And we have a mixed grouping here really, Aussies, UK people, US, Canada, etc... All are welcome

Sailor Slytherin, . Your comments about tourists in Blue States was too funny. Thanks. Claire, the poll I was referring to was just shown on the news the other night about how many people from other countries dislike Americans the worst. France came in third, amazingly enough. I thought they would be at the top of the list as usual. But the #1 spot went to Germany! Germany? Actually they were mentioned first but Spain came in with something like a 23% approval rating. So they might have been first because I seem to remember the numbers being in the 30's for the other 2. It's a reference to their opinion of all Americans in general and our country. I just wish that people in other countries could remember that while they might see something on the news, we have to live it here. And our Idiot's approval rating is usually somewhere around 30% Not really that much of an endorsement for him and his policies. Nice that you have such a melting pot here, Claire. And since it is such a melting pot, maybe I should take a second to explain the blue state reference. Our gov't has major 2 parties. The Blue States voted for the loser and the Red States voted for the "winner". Whenever one of the states is declared won by one candidate or another during an election, that's where the blue/red state reference comes in. I probably should have clarified better that the numbers from the poll about how many people from other countries dislike America referred to how many DO like it. Small numbers, indeed.

Hmm... Thanks for explaining the blue state thing... Interesting poll. Makes me wonder what people think of little ol' Oz

Hi Claire, You're welcome. Sorry for droning on about a political subject in this thread. It might be an interesting poll, but it's a typical one. I seriously doubt that anyone would really have anything negative to say about OZ. Although I speak with one of your countrymen who says that your country is indebted to mine since WWII and does whatever is asked. And he likes us, actually. I started speaking with him after he went on an anti-US rant in a group we both belonged to because of our policies among other things. It set me off but I answered him very nicely and just disagreed with every word he wrote. We went back and forth a bit. And then he taught me to use the IM. He later apologized and said that he couldn't believe how nice I remained while he was acting like such a (deleted) . He likes his occasional rant and said that he tends to forget that there are real people reading the things he writes about our government. He gets so upset because he does love the US. But I have to wonder what he would have to say about your enthusiasm about all things British. He really doesn't have much use for the Brits. Your history and all that, you know. I want to apologize now for anything you will read elsewhere. I do hope you know they are only written in jest and I mean no harm. I am just in a funny mood since that witch set me off the other day and now I can't shut up about anything, apparently.

Yeah, I'm guilty of teasing about other countries, but it's just that: teasing. Australia, UK, Canada, etc., they're all cool. ;D Actually... I find stereotypes kind of amusing, because they're so ridiculous. It's like, yeeeeaaah, (Sorry, California vernacular coming through there... ) everyone in England enjoys tea and crumpets and everyone in Australia wrestles Alligators.... Just like everyone in Canada adds 'eh' to the end of every sentence...

I agree that stereotypes are pretty laughable really, but sometimes they overstep a mark that irritates me a bit. Not that I should take it personally, I know that - but I think what annoys me the most is that there are people out there who genuinely believe the stereotypes, which makes them extremely close-minded. Anyway, WTF? This is Family Guy dude Maybe we should carry on this discussion in the 'Discussions' section of the board, LOL!

Hey, I did apologize. But, I will shut up now. Seriously, I only logged on for a sec to send an email and of course, looked around. There is no such a thing as logging on for a sec and I should know better. But, I do just have a minute. There's too much to do this afternoon and later I must have a football discussion elsewhere. ;D Just checked here quickly to see if Claire is ticked at me, and I think she might be. To get back on thread, is Family Guy really as good as my nephew claims when he keeps trying to get me to watch it?

I apologize for the off-topicness. It's really my fault this whole discussions started. Not that it isn't interesting! It's just, this IS a Family Guy thread afterall. LOL. Bad SS! (Btw, donna, I don't think Claire is ticked at you. ) Erm, anyway.... Yes, back on the thread... Family Guy is awesome. It's hilarious. ;D Where's a clip when I need it?!?! Ah, yes, here! A best of clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=80E7MYVv6A0(Sound still doesn't work on my laptop so I don't know what the hell is going on there... Well, I remember those clips, but not verbatim. )

Thanks for the link SS. Whoever makes this show must be insane. Maybe I will check it out. ;D No sound is horrible. I went through it for months with my laptop until I got it fixed. Once I did, I lost count of how many times I woke my young son at all hours of the night because of my music. He would actually come into the kitchen to complain that it was too loud. And this from a kid who falls asleep to his own music playing so loudly that I have to close his door and blast my tv in order to hear it. It's easier than fighting over the sound. And he falls asleep quicker. Plus, he likes to repeat the songs so right now I have been listening to Disco Inferno for the past 1 1/2 hours. And if I turn it off or down, he will wake up. Hi Claire.

Seth MacFarlane and his crew of writers are awesome, I have to say I find Family Guy far more hilarious than The Simpsons now - in fact I think FG has actually killed the Simpsons for me, LOL! It's just not as good anymore. Getting old, same ol' same ol' - whereas FG is still relatively fresh and I love that they push the boundaries a lot more - it's a genuine adult TV show with adult humour - Simpsons is kids stuff

I used to watch the Simpsons when I was younger and now I don't find it funny anymore. Hmmm.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so ;D Well I know I'm not anyway, LOL. My b/f thinks so too, as do many other people I've spoken to It's time to put the Simpsons to rest, Mr Groening! Either that or come up with some new ideas that don't suck

Same here. My brothers don't like it either. However my friends are the opposite. They all love the Simpsons, but don't like FG... (Speaking of the Simpson's being for little kids...one of the reasons why one of my friends likes the Simpsons is because his mom wont let him watch FG. The Simpsons is more 'suitable' for him... And he's older than me... I'm so mean... ) Matt Groening should continue Futurama! I actually liked that one. One of my favorite things to quote came from Futurama: "Did everything just taste purple for a second?"
