Perhaps they're trying to be like Family Guy, with the success it's had... They do sort of pay each other out if you've noticed, LOL! In the recent Sideshow Bob episode there were references to FG and American Dad...
The formula has definitely changed though.

They've ruined him though, in that last episode he was in! Giving him a fricken wife and kid!  Nah I'm not convinced... I watched it this Tuesday and, well, it was marginally better (having 2 storylines running, although that thing with Bart and Skinner was just stupid and annoying - god I hate Bart sometimes!) I still laugh more at Family Guy than I do at the Simpsons. And I've been watching the Simpsons since it first aired, so I'm a long running fan. I just think that maybe my humour has changed, and I prefer the more adult humour in shows like Family Guy... I'll still see the Simpsons movie though, out of curiosity. |

Yeah yeah, I know I just think it's getting a bit stale nowadays. I mean it has been going for years! So admittedly it would be hard to keep coming up with fresh and amusing ideas after that long. |
