Ooh yeah...I even have trouble throwing away crap books!
I'm not too sure about 'meandering' stories...I could never get into those overly complex fantasy novels...just find them too confusing.

I loved his "The World According To Garp", and "The Hotel New Hampshire":. The Hotel New Hampsire was brilliant. The sexual tension was electric!! Not read Garp but want to.

The sexual tension! I kner!! Wasn't it a relevation how a sensitive subject like that one could be handled so sweetly? (And hotly...) He writes the most endearingly eccentric characters. I love endearingly eccentric characters...

Any Good Omens fans here? Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett? It's been ages since I read it, but I remember laughing out loud like a very silly thing when I did.

Not read that one but I do enjoy a good Terry Pratchett book. My fave is Wyrd Sisters. Have you read the Discworld novels?

Maybe I should look into Discworld!
Good Omens is hilarious - very Douglas Adams/Pythonesque.

I haven't read any for ages (they remind me of an ex!) but they are so fun. I love all the little silly footnotes he adds and stuff!

I like the one that's based on Australia... The Last Continent, hehehe... I should really finish it - I was re-reading it years ago but it's kinda been put on hold for quite some time

I have to gush about The Time Machine by H. G. Wells. One of those that everyone should read, it's only short but it is brilliant. You get all sorts of imagery in your head of what the world he describes is like.
Also 1984 by George Orwell. I've been going on a classics rampage and 1984 is also amazing, very ahead of it's time and a jolly good read.
