*curls up in front of camp fire with the boys* Hello boys...I'm obsessing about you two. I have your soundtrack running through my head all day, and out of the blue I find tears rolling down my cheeks... I love you so much. I love you like Amy loves Steve, like T-Bird loves Dan, like Egregious loves Ross and like Sails loves Reece. I don't care that you are fictional. You represent all the good, beautiful men throughout history that lived horrible, heartbreaking, repressed, half-lived lives. You each found your One True Love...but you couldn't be together because society said no. *lies in the dust and looks up at the stars, blinking back the tears* Oh my goodness... I thought I was the only person who had thoughts like this going round my head... Tweed, you really do have a beautiful soul.... p.s. i had to smile when I read that bit. On another note, I had a bit of a fight with my pig of a stepdad about this film last night. An advert came on the telly for it (first one I've seen) and I swooned and told my mum (who might actually care) about how much I couldn't wait to see it and how beautiful it's going to be, and he turned round and said "That's the one about the faggot cowboys?", then proceeded to be extremely homophobic - I didn't really talk to him for the rest of the evening...

I know! he is one of the most biggoted people I have ever met - he makes me so angry all of the time. Not a single conversation goes by without him saying the words "Ethnic Minority" or "Faggot" I just want to hit him!

Well, I seriously hope that you never have to meet anyone like him ever as it can be very depressing.

My dad can be a bit tactless sometimes Though not as bad... I usually just ignore him, LOL! I think if I come across someone like that I'll call them a narrow minded git to their face, and see what their reaction is

I wish I could see it with you T-Bird I'd hold your hand. I know you wanted to read the story after seeing the movie, and I've posted a couple of links, but I've found another which is the best formatted version of the novella I've found so far: www.wesjones.com/brokeback.htmI'm so sorry about your step-dad. Those sorts of racist and homophobic comments are like a red rag to a bull with me. My brother is just like that, which is yet another reason I have decided he is not to be part of my life anymore. I did my best to educate him on why it is offensive and just plain wrong to say things like that, but he just got angry and said I lacked a sense of humour.

I wish I could see it with you T-Bird I'd hold your hand. Oh how I wish you could have been there with me Tweed. It would've been so great watching it with a fellow obsessee. Lovely! I shall check that out ASAP. I am probably going to buy a compilation of Proulx stories that they have just re-released to tie in with the movie as well. I think she might be a writer I will love. It's so hard to deal with isn't it. All I can say is thank god we're not as narrow minded as them, and our lives are definately better for it!

Right, now answering previous posts is out of the way ( ) I can finally say that I just got back from watching the movie, and oh....my.....god..... it was so beautiful! Tweed, I really can't wait until you finally get to see it! It is heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. Jake and Heath are amazing in it, and Ang Lee has used such beautiful direction that I couldbn't imagine it being any better than it is. It's strange because I didn't actually cry whilst in the theatre but within 5 minutes of coming outside and it all sinking in, I was in tears walking in Piccadilly circus. It really is just so haunting that it's one of those films where I will think about it for hours afterwards and cry sitting in bed on my own... It's going to haunt my sleep tonight I can feel it. It's going to remain in my mind for a long time to come. And as soon as I was out of the cinema I wanted to go back and watch it again...
