I'm so going to get that movie on DVD. I saw it at the cinema earlier this year and was blown away.
Geoffery Rush is amazing.

My b/f and I were spontaneous and saw Charlie & The Chocolate Factory It was... ok... But I still prefer the old one, with Gene Wilder...

I saw it today, and loved it! (I loved the Gene Wilder musical of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory too.) It was pretty much a given that I'd love it though...Johnny Depp...Tim Burton. Yep, I'm there! ;D
(And David Kelly from Robin's Nest! heh heh. I do love my old Britcom stars!)
I can see why some people have commented on the Michael Jackson/Neverland parallels, but I didn't find Willy creepy or kiddy-fiddler-ish at all. I found it true to the spirit of the book, with a pretty cool message about parenting to boot.

I need to re-read the book now I want to refresh my memory as to how the "original" written version Wonka should act... But I really do have mixed feelings about it. On one side, I liked it, but on the other, I still like the other one more... LOL! Oh well

I think I like them both equally ;D I love 'Willy Wonka' - because Gene Wilder rocks, and the music was fun, and well, it's just a classic! The fx and everything still hold up brilliantly. BTW, forgot to comment - how about the wee cameo with Kevin Eldon and Mark Heap! I wriggled for joy in my seat
