Just a heads up for the aussies - Australia's Favourite Movie is on tonight (Sunday) at 7.30 pm on the ABC. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'Australia's Favourite Book' presentation, so this should be equally fun.

OMG - I almost cried when Donnie Darko was announced at #5!! I love that film so much...partially for the reason Judith Lucy does (and BTW - gorgous new sig, tweed! I couldn't see it before...god jake is so pretty...but I digress)...but also for the reason that Nick Earls mentioned - that as a writer you live in hope of creating something so clever, and funny and beautiful. I can still remember the way it made me feel when I first watched it...it blew the cobwebs from my mind.

*bounce* I squealed and clapped when DD came in at number 5!!! There's HOPE for this country! And I thought of you!!! Absolutely! re: what Nick Earls said!! (And what Judith Lucy said!) It's just a magic experience of a movie - the mood of it, the music, the whoa...everything.!! Ahhhh, glad you like the banner...how lickable does JG's neck look??? I am now going to predict that Margaret Pomeranz will give Brokeback Mountain 5 stars. I have long harboured a suspicion that she loves the boy on boy (I have a few films taped from SBS with her intros...), and HA!!! She saw the slash that is The Shawshank Redemption!

I thought it was interesting to see how no one understood it, and either they liked it for that reason, or didn't. (...and yes, but every part of Jake is lickable! have you seen 'The Good Girl'? You must see it! You must! It's my second fave jake film...well, until BB comes out )

You HAVE to see it...believe it or not, Jennifer Aniston is really good! Also, must see Jake movies - October Sky (although he is quite young in this, and it makes me feel like a dirty old lady), and Moonlight Mile...oh, and Bubble Boy, for a laugh!

Ooh lots of JG goodness! ;D
It's so silly...I have Austar and I rarely watch the movies. I should make more of an effort to start taping them for when I do feel like watching them!

If I had pay TV, I'd never leave the couch...I'd pee in a cup and have John throw me scraps...

Are you familiar with the name Gayle Grinds, perchance? (a news story that held me rapt with grotesque fascination...)

The woman in the US who stayed on her couch for two years...her skin grew into the fabric of the couch. She weighed some incredible weight. She existed on potato chips and soft drink brought in by her boyfriend.
There's more...but you may not want to read it. (Why can I recite the details of the last two hours of Gayle Grinds life, but I can't remember how to program a DVDR ?)

It's funny what the brain chooses to remember... I think I'll skip the rest of Gayle's life...I know how food went in, but I don't need to know how it came out
