Post any random SM facts that you know regarding the dub or japanese version that not everyone knows. (Warn for spoilers though)
Example: -Fish Eye is really supposed to be a guy. They changed him to a woman for the dub because he was a homosexual. (For those of you who don't know, this is FishEye: www.evilminion.com/gallery/fisheye2.jpg)

Same thing for another character... I can't remember the name... Zoicite or something? Was actually a guy originally, but because of a relationship with another male character, the dubbers changed him to a female...

Actually I believe that in the Manga, the Starlights are always female... but I'll have to confirm that...
LOL Ok... this is weird, but... according to my main Sailor Moon expert (at my Sailor Mercury Online board)...
I'll post the answers here as well.
Males are beleived to have a better sense of smell than females. this is beleived to be an evoled adaptation of the species for when the MAle's were the hunter/gathers who had to go out and retreive food. better sense of smell enabled a better chance to get better prey.
With this in mind the Starlights turned into males so that they would have this better sense of smell to find the olive scent that was strongly associated with Kakyuu-hime.
In either case of the manga or the anime its alot easier to pose as guys looking for girls, or at least a specific one, than to be girls looking for girls. As male idols they could attract a larger group of female following than they could have if they remained as female.
Even more so they are physically male in the anime, but in the manga [the Starlights are] ALWAYS female. They just wear a disguise.
In the Anime there are three reason's for turning physically male. Its easier to disguise yourself by actually changing into a male, plus there is the whole scientific theory about males having a stronger sense of smell (dates back to the hunter/gather thing) and the social thing of guys looking for girls is easier to handle than girls looking for girls. That last reason is why the did it in the manga. . .
From what I've reasearched the Starlights (In the anime I don't know about the manga) are originaly women who have chosen to hide out on Earth as men in order to attract less attention in their search for another women.
