He grew on me, I didn't like him in the earlier shows, but he's grown up a bit over the years.

I don't know why I dislike him actually, LOL! Maybe it's because of what Jonathan Frakes did to the Thunderbirds movie?

It's funny though. In this huge epic of a fan-fic I was planning to write (which died when I lost interest ) he was going to be a source of conflict for my intro'd character, hehe!

Ooh no. It was really crap. I gave Data emotions, LOL! Sooo crappy non canon

And like everything else I write, the introduced character was a Vampire Slayer (ala Buffy) I went through this phase of having to write crossover fics with a Slayer all the time

So now I just write Buffy fics - it saves the hassle

There's nothing wrong with adding to Buffy's life. She can take it! Have you had her tell her parents off for naming her "Buffy" yet. I just don't see an intelligent, independent female of any age being happy with that name.
That does not mean that I don't like the show and it's spin offs. Just think she could have been so much more with a name people can respect.

I often wondered about that too

Actually I don't write as Buffy herself. In the fanfics I write, the only canon characters are Giles and Faith (Faith RAWKS!).

With the ST fic, the Slayer character was someone different entirely. I had this whole idea that Slayers had died out long long ago, but one had been cryogenically frozen (ala Austin Powers or Fry from Futurama) so that there could be one in the future in case she was needed.

There was this full on back story behind her, LOL! Basically she winds up on the Enterprise and Riker doesn't like her because he thinks she's dangerous, but Data is "fascinated" by her (because she's the last of her kind, all that shite)

Giles is my favourite Buffy character!! He is HOT!!! (too much?) ;D Sensitive, intelligent, and with a dark side, to boot! What more could you ask for? And Faith is definitely the coolest member of the cast. Good choices!
As for the other efforts, the story does intrigue me. You only see the stupid side coz of the comic originals that you compare them too. If the characters stand up in their own right, then it could work.
