HARRY Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is in talks to star in a controversial stage play as a teenager who blinds horses with a metal spike.
The 16-year-old is being considered for director Kenneth Branagh's version of Peter Shaffer's Equus.
And, a million miles from Hogwarts, he will have to simulate sexual ecstasy while riding.
In the 1977 film of the unsettling production - which caused uproar when premiered by the National Theatre Company four years earlier - Richard Burton played psychiatrist Martin Dysart who treats disturbed stable lad Alan Strang (Peter Firth).
Now Daniel, currently in Australia shooting The December Boys, is keen to win Firth's role to show he can be more than JK Rowling's school wizard.
He will start The Order of The Phoenix, his fifth Potter film, next year.
But that will leave plenty of time to prepare for Equus, set for London's West End in early 2007.
Wow! That certainly seems like an interesting play that I might have to go and see!
It would definitely put his acting skills to the test, as that sounds like a pretty hefty role to get your head around. I look forward to seeing how he does. I really would love him to become a serious actor, so he can entertain me for years to come!

LOL No I don't mean you
I've read that article before anyway... I think it was put up after another one about Dan hanging out with this "older male friend" of his on the set of HP4 or something... LOL! I can't remember it exactly...
Well, it doesn’t really matter anyway. Whenever he is spotted with someone a million rumours will circulate whether he likes it or not. I have heard loads saying he’s gay though, but that just might be people being arses…
