LOL yes, yes there most definitely is one. I'm not sure when it starts over there but there definitely is one. It might start when Martha makes her appearance in Torchwood, or just after, if they're meant to coincide in some way.
Ooo yeah I forgot about Martha being in Torchwood! The Doctor should be in Torchwood. Cos Torchwood is basically Doctor Who + swearing + gore + sex. Add the Doctor to that and you've got the best TV show ever ;D
Anyway I've just been looking on Wikipedia and it just says Spring 2008. That could be anytime! It also says how many episodes the three companions are in. And Captain Jack and Sarah Jane are back. It should be interesting to see Rose and Martha clash tho, I hope they're both in the same episodes!
Jess, you are watching Torchwood by now so I guess you know that it's on. There will be 13 episodes I think. Strange that you couldn't find it in Wiki because they do list the dates for all the countries. I knew because BBC America advertized it every chance they got. But I did see it on Wiki when I was searching Doctor Who.
While it's BBC America's biggest hit ever, the ratings seemed to have dropped a bit in England last year so if you want another season you had better start the campaign now because we're only guaranteed this season (series) so if it's cancelled, I will hold you prsonally responsible.

LOL No not brainwashed. I'm not even much of a "Classic Who" fan but from what I've seen of both "versions", I prefer it... the new one annoys me - it's all the lovey dovey soap opera wank that puts me off. Plus the finale of the series just gone (I think it's the one you're seeing now?) was just so... well, crap doesn't quite cover it
Since I dislike SciFi and enjoy soaps maybe that's why I like it finally. Besides those snapping teeth and when he slips that tongue out in OooP. ;D I also get that feeling when he loses his temper. I think I could use a fan then. And as long as David Tennent is in the finale, I doubt that I will think that it's crap or even worse.
I'm just pissed that I fell asleep halfway through's episode since I was able to watch it at 7pm while my son was over my mother's and I was too stupid to put a tape in.
Tonight they repeat last weeks episode before the new one of Torchwood and both are on 3 times during the evening and Graham Norton is on at least 2-3 times but no Doctor Who. They are playing Torchwood to death here since it's their highest rated show.
I had no idea until I went looking through the week that it isn't on anymore. Nothing but constant episodes of Coupling, Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares and endless repeats of the British Academy Film Awards.
I don't know just how far I am besides being a season behind. Tonight was the New New York episode with the highway to nowhere.
Since it's Sunday by you now, I hope you had fun with your b/f last night. Even if he doesn't have taste in TV, at least he has taste in you. That's a joke before you get upset.

LOL oi oi oi He has good taste most of the time. Without him I wouldn't have gotten into a lot of the UK comedies I love now
And I can understand why he'd hate the new stuff, it's totally different from Classic Who and it does grate on continuity a lot of the time.
Having said that, while I don't care for New Who, I really love Torchwood, heh! I think it's better written and I like that it's darker, and more adult. It works "on its own" really...
And I've probably said this a heap of times But while I really love David Tennant, his portrayal of the Doctor just irks me. I think he's just too manic, or something... I dunno what it is, but not even his hawtness can save it
No insult intended. So he's to blame for turning you into a Brit lover. LOL Can't blame him though. Most of their sit-coms are hilarious.
That's why I think I like it Doctor Who now. I couldn't change the station fast enough years ago after watching Fawlty Towers since it came on right after it. ;D I'm just not into SciFi. I thought that show was the strangest thing on TV and didn't find it the least bit appealing.
I did like the Star Wars movies, especially the one with Billy Dee Williams in it. ;D But that's as far as Sci-Fi and I go.
I love David Tennent's manic behavior. I find it amusing. But I am used to that and find it too funny for words considering my line of work back in New York. Plus his one liners are just hysterical. I know I'm a year behing but in the Shakespeare episode when Martha said Expelliarmis and he mentioned JK, it was the funniest thing. Looking for the cultural references is part of the fun.
Since I never watched any of the other series, contunuity doesn't enter into it for me since I don't know the difference. I just know that after all these years, I finally love Doctor who and have David Tennent to credit for that. And damn the fact that he will be busy doing a play next year and there will only be about 4-5 shows.
I love Torchwood also. It is a lot sexier. I doubt that I have ever been so flustered by a gay man before. And his kisses are something else. And whether it's a gay or straight man, I just love seeing one in a long coat. It's just too sexy for words. ;D I read somewhere (Wiki?) that they are planning an edited version of it so they can show it earlier in the evening for the kids in England.
And England better start watching Torchwood this year since their ratings started off strong last year and then started dropping. If that continues there might not be a season 3 of Torchwood.
But I have to say that I find it hilarious that it was you that got me watching Doctor Who and it is exactly what irks you about it that is exactly what I love about it. Too funny.

LOL Hey each to their own...
I guess to gain a better understanding of why he hates it... imagine a classic series that you absolutely love - then imagine it being "remade" for a "new audience" and everything that you loved about the classic series is virtually thrown out of the window, and the only reason that a lot of people are watching it is for the main actor because he's "OMFGHAWT"... then if they even know that there is an original version, they either won't give it a chance or they say it sucks...
Funny thing about sci-fi. I don't like Star Wars but I like Star Trek, I find it more interesting, and I like TNG because Data is awesome
Then there's also Red Dwarf, which to me is more about the comedy than the sci-fi, but I still love it... well, wouldn't have this lurve for Chris Barrie if I didn't like the Dwarf, hahaha Plus it's British so that just means it should be good by default
Actually they did remake one of my all time favorites, Dark Shadows. But thankfully the guy who played Barnabas (Ben Cross) was pretty good. Luckily they pretty much stuck to the original story. But then one of the wars started so it started getting bumped off and moved around so it just lasted the one season.
But I can understand your b/fs feelings. If they had changed anything on my show, I would have went looking for them.
I liked the first 3 Star Wars, now called 4-6. Very confusing. I never bothered watching the other ones.
Never could get into Star Trek. Always left the room when my brother watched it.
And OMFGHAWT is as good reason as any to watch something. But with me the difference is that I do remember the old series and just couldn't tolerate it but again, I do understand his feelings. I would hate for someone to ruin a show I loved. But in my defense I must say that I never liked Doctor Who even before David Tennent played him. ;D
Plus, I adore Highlander. And Queen's music fit it perfectly. When the made the last movie (it sucked btw) they had the nerve to use a new group to sing Queen's songs. I was livid. Besides the fact that the movie stunk, it took too much away being distracted by someone else daring to sing Freddie's songs. >:(Their music helped make the movies and the series. I guess the producers were hoping for a younger fanbase and screw all the people who watched it for years. So yes, I can imagine how he feels if he is that passionate about the original series.
And as for Red Dwarf, besides it being a British show you little Brit lover, are you by any chance saying OMFGHAWT about Chris Barrie? ;D Stupid question since I know the answer.

LOL! Like I say, each to their own - whatever floats your boat, etc....
And yeah I wasn't much of a "classic" Who fan, as I say, but I at least have seen it a bit more, and as I said, from what I've seen of both, I prefer it... I guess I just liked Tom Baker too much to see anyone else try and defy him though, hahaha
LOL! Well Chris isn't the only reason I like Red Dwarf But he does help, haha. And again he's not the only reason I sat through the Tomb Raider movies...
And Jensen Ackles isn't the only reason I watch Supernatural, despite his most obvious OMFGHAWTNESS
