Hello peeeeeeeeople! I have just recieved EXCITING word that the Goodies (unfortuantely sans Bill, as he is off natureloving or something) are returning to australia to tour AGAIN! This time in nov 05. Now only perth's dates have been released, but we have been assured more will follow. I am almosted delirious with excitement as i farking MISSING OUT (read: was in another state) when the goodies came to town the first time so am DEFINATELY going! omgggggggggggggggg!!!! I see Graeme in the FLESH *falls over and dies* HOW CITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  |

I went last time and it was just a dream come true to see them live before my very own eyes! Plus they were soooo funny!
(MUCH funnier than they are on The Goodies DVD commentary, I'm glad to report!)

I know, I still have to pinch myself! Those guys were my heroes when I were lad. I can give a report for when I saw them earlier this year, T-Bird. (The other Aussies may want to look away if they are going to see them next time.)The show was at a large venue and we had a good view of the stage - which contained a screen in the background, and to one side three chairs. One was like a bean bag, with hippie flowers every where, the next was throne like with a union jack draped over it , and the third one (this cracked me up) was made of corduroy and had leather elbow patches on the armrests The guys came on stage - on a trandem Zimmer Frame  The show that followed involved each goodie giving a little anecdotal talk, illustrated with video clips. Got to see bloopers, and heard about behind the scenes stuff, like when they insisted on doing their own stunts, but from the video, it could have been anyone doing the hard stuff because they were dressed up as tubes of toothpaste at the time! One absolute highlight was them doing a recreation of a radio sketch from I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again, complete with a table full of sound fx machines. The sketch was about Jack The Ripper (everytime Ripper was said, Bill pulled two bits of velcro apart to make a ripping noise), and it was just about the funniest thing I've ever heard/seen. I'm a sucker for a bad pun, and when one of them said "The news sent the police reeling..." and music for a reel strikes up diddly diddly dee dee dee... I just about peed my pants. They showed the one clip to ever receive an official complaint from Mary Whitehouse, and it was from everyone's fave 'Saturday Night Grease, and involved Tim's carrot undies! ;D DIS GOOS TING! The show went for a good couple of hours, if I remember correctly, and wound up with a rousing singalong to 'Funky Gibbon'. I wore the glow of someone who had been in the presence of comedy greatness for the rest of the week. Ahhh...good times. |
