Yeah, I got (at the moment depending on buyers at ebay) 5 Super 8mm projectors and 1 16mm (big) projector. Plus, a whole heap of editing crap and sound equiptment.

Heck, I'd love to make a career out of it. But, it's a dying art, so it's just going to have to stay a hobby. Thanks for asking. The plus side is I always have my own cinema.... ;D

Years ago, film used to have nitrate in the developing compound, so if it caught fire, it went up and take everything with it. from about the early 1950s they took it out, now if the film burns it just melts like plastic. Film, believe it or not is still the highest quality recording media. Videotape is too sterile, digital still shows pixals, but film is the equivelent of what the human eye sees, flat colour.
Film needs to be stores away from dust basically, like VHS tapes and DVDs do. The only real danger film posesses is Eastman. Eastman Colour was a format developed by Kodak in the 1950s to combat Technicolor and Metrocolor. The trouble was, they found that 20 or so years later, Eastman had a fault of degrading colour so it slowly goes a pink tint and smell of vinegar. LLP is the best colour format. If you have Eastman reds - keep them away from others as it can be passed on.

:Dcough geek cough.. just messin.. its great you have that hobby.. and are obviously into it... but a lot of "film guys" are like the apple guys... they swear that anything but a mac is crap... well its funny how so many of the "film" people do make the movies in video format.. and do all the special effects.. then transfer it to film to call it a film.. (I deal with these peeps fairly regularly.. cuz of the DH.... and I do know a few that still shoot on film..) because there are so many other things you can do on video or computer graphics you cant do on film...
