Just watched eps 1 - 4 of the new series in one sitting. Ep 1 New Earth: ;D ;D ;D Ep 2 The Queen Victoria one ;D Ep 3 School Reunion Ep 4 The Girl In The Fireplace Random comments: There's some Blackadder lines creeping into the dialogue! (not that this is a bad thing...) I love that the show is exploring emotion as well as nerdy sci fi whizz bangery. It makes me feel like the show has grown up with me. I liked all the whizz bangery and crap sci fi when I was a kid, and I still do, but having some human drama involved makes it far more watchable, for me at least, than it would be otherwise. The improved production values are also greatly appreciated! Rose didn't give me the shits in the Ecclestone Dr Who series, in fact, I went to great pains to defend her at time. This time around she is starting to annoy me - especially in episode 3. (Maybe I am being too harsh though - one minute I am saying I like the upped attention to human emotion, and yet when Rose displays some of the less attractive facets like jealousy and possessiveness, I turn on her! ) David Tennant is a beautiful, intense Dr Who, and I appreciate and applaud the depth he brings to the role. Whoever thought of the idea of having Dr Who wear glasses at times, THANK YOU.

Hmmm! I've heard about all the emotional stuff that's been going in. A lot of people don't like it - they say "it's not Who".
Oooh well. I don't know when I'll get to see any of it to comment properly, LOL!

Oh, I'm glad you're liking it Tweedy!! I'm with you on the DT front - I think he's fantastic. He's so intense and acts from the heart rather than being cool and collected. I love it when he gets angry in it!! I keep missing it though. Not sure why but I just do which is very annoying. Mised this week's as well. Maybe i can download them to catch up....

DT can do no wrong really. He is superb in everything!!
Did you see the third episode, "School Reunion"? I blubbed...
Spoiler ahead:
The reunion with Sarah Jane. Whoa... cos part of me was thinking how thrilled DT must have been, as a Dr Who fan, to work with her!! And because it was so heartbreaking knowing how she must have waited...and waited...
(It was my fondest wish to be Dr Who's assistant when I was a kid. I knew it wasn't real, but how I wished it was!)

I missed that one, but they get repeated over here a lot so I hope to catch up!
Also, on the Rose front - I can't believe how much weight Billie's lost recently. It makes her head look even bigger!

I only noticed it in the show. She seems much thinner than before

Eps 5 and 6 - Cybermen two parter.
Part one is so so, but part two is genuinely creepy and a bit scary. (I vaguely recall being afraid of the cybermen when I were lad).
Anyone heard anything about the Torchwood spinoff yet?

The second part of that wasa really quite eerie...although the ending of it was a bit strange. Why did the Doctor let Mickey stay? Having spent all his time warning them against the dangers of parallel world, I thought it was odd that he let him stay behind, even if that world HAD lost it's Ricky... Anyhoo, it's Mark's episode tomorrow! ;D

I haven't been altogether pleased with the way the Doctor has been treating poor Mickey. It was almost like he was glad to see the back of him IIRC, the second to last Doctor wasn't as annoyed by him, was he?
